A-LG Week 8 Power Rankings: Young Bowl on Tap

Solid season for Forte so far.

Hester does it again

Ed, Jay move into playoff position

Ed, Jay move into playoff position

Sorry Steve, your undefeated run is coming to an end this week. And after the impending loss, I will be taking over as division leader and new #1 team in the league. I simply cannot lose to a roster that is starting a RB duo of Felix Jones and Andre Ellington. No Rivers, Forte, and probably no Graham either? It would truly be a tragedy if I don’t win the Young Bowl this week.

Week 7 Quick Hits:

  • The HH Division Leader carousel continues as John D takes the top spot with a paltry 3-4 record and is now the 3rd different HH leader in 3 weeks
  • Mike‘s woes continue as he drops his 4th straight in the loss to a quietly emerging Jay team
  • After winning the weekly pot in Week 1, 2nd-year B-LG promotee Matt has not won since, losing 6 in a row
  • Martin and Steve have split the Young Bowl series as each own a 4-4 record in 8 regular-season head-to-head matches dating back to 2004. The two have met only once in the playoffs in 2010 where lil bro bested big bro for the 3rd place game 105-85
  • REMINDER: The trade deadline this year was moved up to Nov. 1

1 Steve

RECORD: 7-0
LAST: 1
TREND: uparrow

The bye weeks really could not have come at a worse time for Steve who is without some of his biggest weapons in a crucial divisional showdown with Martin. With both teams being 2-0 in the division, a single divisional loss could be the only edge that is needed to secure the BB title.

Commish’s Pick: LOSS vs Martin *Lock of the Week* *Young Bowl*

2 Martin

RECORD: 6-1
LAST: 2
TREND: uparrow

In Week 5, Martin knocked off Anthony in a 158-138 victory, busting the Dragon’s perfect record. The Commish hopes he can knock off another unbeaten #1 this week in Steve to reclaim the top spot in the division and league.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Steve *Lock of the Week* *Young Bowl*

DRAGON

DRAGON

3 Anthony

RECORD: 5-2
LAST: 3
TREND: uparrow

Per the request of Anthony, I will go ahead and regrade the trade with Arman as a “C-“. Randle has been surprisingly sufficient as he has posted double-digit scores in each of the last 3 weeks which is actually something that neither Cruz or Nicks say.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Dang

THATS ALL ME

THATS ALL ME

4 Presley

RECORD: 4-3
LAST: 4
TREND: uparrow

A frustrating divisional loss for Presley last week as he dropped his 2nd straight in the BA’s Finest Bowl vs Martin. The matchup featured two awful quarterback performances as both Foles and Brady failed to reach double-digits posting just 5 and 8 points respectively.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Edmond

J. Houston Club

J. Houston Club

5 Edmond

RECORD: 4-3
LAST: 8
TREND: uparrow 3

Kudos to Edmond for going 7-0 in Pick Em last week, marking the first time that has happened this season. With the sweep, Ed pulls to within 5 points of leader Jeff.

Commish’s Pick: LOSS vs Presley

DoubleFistMugs

DoubleFistMugs

6 Jay

RECORD: 3-4
LAST: 11
TREND: uparrow 5

This team is quietly making a comeback and if you look closely, Jay has actually fared well in the point department as this team has posted less than 130 points only once this season.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Matt

The Shadiest

The Shadiest

7 Jeff

RECORD: 3-4
LAST: 5
TREND: uparrow 2

After winning 3 straight and getting back to .500, Jeff was routed last week by Steve 98-148, forcing him to surrender the division lead momentarily to John D who trails both Jeff and Arman in points but owns a better division record at 2-1.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs JC

Arman

Arman

8 Arman

RECORD: 3-4
LAST: 12
TREND: uparrow 4

I have to be honest, I thought Arman‘s season was done a couple weeks ago, but this team is really starting to turn it up as it has now won 2 straight, both of the quality variety, including a Week 6 pot. And it sure looks like Arman is off to a good start this week up 59-0 thanks to the Panthers thrashing the Bucs last night.

Commish’s Pick: LOSS vs Ken

9 John D

RECORD: 3-4
LAST: 10
TREND: uparrow 1

Just like John Cabaluna is the biggest fraud in terms of winning records, this John is certainly a momentary fraud as the HH division leader. It’s definitely going to be a tight race and I do not foresee any wildcard coming out of HH. If Dang is to make the playoffs, he’s going to need to take the division.

Commish’s Pick: LOSS vs Anthony

10 Mike

RECORD: 2-5
LAST: 6
TREND: uparrow 4

I’m not really sure what I saw in making this Upset Special pick as Mike has now lost 4 in a row. But I really think he’s due for a W here against a Doug team that is among the worst in AVG PPW.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Doug *Upset Special*

11 Doug

Apparently most people agree with my pick as Doug received only 2 other picks other than himself from Ken and Anthony.

12 Ken

RECORD: 2-5
LAST: 7
TREND: uparrow 5

After posting 140+ in 2 straight weeks, this team managed just 102 last week in the loss to Edmond. I still really like the makeup of Ken‘s squad, but it just doesn’t seem to be collecting W’s like you would expect. Perhaps it’s just a case of the rookie blues.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Arman

UnderdogFTW

13 Matt

RECORD: 1-6
LAST: 13
TREND: uparrow Matt has accumulated 874 total points which is still 38 points better than JC, so he will remain the #13 team for now.

14 JC

RECORD: 4-3

Yahoo is projecting that JC will lose all of his remaining games. I’m not sure that will happen, but it sure seems like a very real possibility.

Commish’s Pick: LOSS vs Jeff
