A-LG Week 7 Power Rankings: Jeff Knocks Off #1 Ant

Still one of my favorite running backs

Still one of my favorite running backs

Jeff knocks off #1 Ant

Jeff knocks off #1 Ant

Since this is my power rankings, I guess I can start this off with a good old Commissioner vent. Even though I’m 5-1, last week’s loss to Edmond definitely could have been avoided. Everyone has 20/20 vision in hindsight and boy did it suck to look back on the what-if’s. What if I had started LaVonte David, Brandon Jacobs, or even Earl Thomas!? Or if Torrey Smith didn’t donut. Or… if Mathis, who was leading the league with 9.5 sacks, could have just recorded a single sack, half sack, or maybe a few more tackles, I mean come on!

Week 6 Quick Hits:

  • Steve remains undefeated and now marks the best start in A-LG history. The only other times this has happened is in the B-LG (Roger in 2010 and Brandon this year)
  • The Joseph Randle sweepstakes was won by Edmond who acquired him for $39W, outbidding Steve ($37W), Martin ($33W), Mike ($25W), Doug ($21W), and JC ($12W). Congrats Ed, you just made your 66th career move
  • At the moment, the HH division is a 5-team race as every single team is 2-4 except for Jeff who leads at 3-3. Right now, any team can go from first to last in the division in a single week

1 Steve

RECORD: 6-0
LAST: 3
TREND: uparrow 2

Yes Steve is undefeated, but I’m not sure he’s really had a real challenger yet as all of his opponents have been riding the bottom half of the league. However, he’ll certainly have his hands full this week as he faces off with a suddenly surging Jeff team that is on a 3-game winning streak. And let’s not forget the juicy Week 8 matchup when he takes on Martin in the Annual Young Bowl.

Commish’s Pick: LOSS vs Jeff *Upset Special*

BEASTMODE

BEASTMODE

2 Martin

RECORD: 5-1
LAST: 2
TREND: uparrow

At 5-1, this marks the best start in Martin’s career (since the auction era). Although he didn’t need it as he is 3rd in total points, the commish thanks the Fantasy Gods for favoring him this year with only 117 PAPW (points against per week).

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Presley *BA’s Finest Bowl*

DRAGON

DRAGON

3 Anthony

RECORD: 4-2
LAST: 3
TREND: uparrow 2

After a red hot start, the Dragon has now lost 2 in a row (although to quality opponents in Jeff and Martin), but remains the league’s top point getter. Although Anthony is the division leader, JC is right on his tail tied with him at 4-2. Anthony‘s worst nightmare is losing a game on JC and thus surrendering the division lead to that phony team that should be nowhere near the top of the standings.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Matt *Lock of the Week*

THATS ALL ME

THATS ALL ME

4 Presley

RECORD: 3-3
LAST: 5
TREND: uparrow 1

This week Presley takes on Martin in the 12th ever BA’s Finest Bowl. This matchup has historically been a close one with the slight edge going to Presley who is 6-5 against the Commish dating back to 2006. However, Presley has not lost to Martin since 2010 when he lost twice to him that year.

Commish’s Pick: LOSS vs Martin *BA’s Finest Bowl*

The Shadiest

The Shadiest

5 Jeff

RECORD: 3-3
LAST: 7
TREND: uparrow 2

After a terrible 0-3 start, this team is now on a little bit of a roll here winning 3 straight and posting 160+ in 2 straight weeks. Lucky for Jeff, the rest of his division continues to unimpress as he sits alone at the top with a whopping 3-3 record. After knocking off #1 team Anthony last week, Jeff looks to knock off another powerhouse team this week in Steve. This should be a good one.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Steve *Upset Special*

New A Leaguer

New A Leaguer

6 Mike

RECORD: 2-4
LAST: 4
TREND: uparrow 2

This team has been struggling to get W’s lately as it has now rattled off 3 straight losses, including a crucial defeat to divisional foe Ken last week. Fortunately for Mike, he is still holding onto about a 20-point lead on Jay who would be next in line for the 6th and final playoff spot.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Jay

U.O.E.N.O.

U.O.E.N.O.

7 Ken

RECORD: 2-4
LAST: 8
TREND: uparrow 1

I was on the wrong side of this game last week, but definitely a very meaningful victory for the rookie as he took down Mike, and thus improving to 1-0 in the division. It’s worth repeating that the tiebreaker for the divisional lead is divisional record first and total points second.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Ed

Ed

Ed

8 Edmond

RECORD: 3-3
LAST: 9
TREND: uparrow 1

After winning for the first time ever against the Commish last week, Edmond is now 3-3 and back in the race in both points and standings. He currently trails 6th place Mike by roughly 30 pts and is 1 GB on division leader Anthony. With newly acquired RB Joseph Randle, I think this team could surprise people, but who knows.

Commish’s Pick: LOSS vs Ken

9 Doug

RECORD: 3-3
LAST: 11
TREND: uparrow 2

This week, the defending champ takes on Arman in one of the league’s most historic rivalries. In 15 head-to-head matches dating back to 2004, Doug is 7-8 lifetime against Arman including a Week 6 win 136-110 in 2012.

Commish’s Pick: LOSS vs Arman *LED Original Bowl*

RECORD: 2-4

TREND: uparrow 4

WTF was I thinking picking Dang as my LOTW?! I’m never doing that again. BTW man, I was totally kidding about the Wednesday Special thing yesterday. If you lose to J-Fraud, it’s over man! Give up and start planning for next year.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs JC

DoubleFistMugs

DoubleFistMugs

11 Jay

RECORD: 2-4
LAST: 12
TREND: uparrow 1

Judging from Jay‘s team name, he is still living off that high of being the only 2-time Fluke champion of the league. Even though I picked against Jay as my LOTW, I did say I didn’t think this team was dead and that certainly held true last week.

Commish’s Pick: LOSS vs Mike

Arman

Arman

12 Arman

RECORD: 2-4
LAST: 14
TREND: uparrow 2

Ahhhhhhhh yeah, am I good or what?! Called the upset! I have a feeling we’re gonna see some sort of a dead kitty bounce from Arman going forward. He’s now a huge favorite this week against Doug and I certainly like Arman to get another W here.

Commish’s Pick: WIN vs Doug *LED Original Bowl*

I’m gonna do you solid Matt and give you the #13 ranking. Why? See #14.

14 JC

RECORD: 4-2
LAST: 10
TREND: uparrow 4

If JC makes the playoffs, it will be the worst thing to have ever happened to this league. No offense to JC, but this is BY FAR the worst, most phoniest, most fraudulent 4-2 team I have ever witnessed in Fantasy Football. JC is dead last in points (and it’s not that close) yet he is TIED for the division lead with Anthony who HAS THE MOST POINTS IN THE LEAGUE!!

Commish’s Pick: LOSS vs Dang

  1. Finally a PR worth reading. =)

BTW, I have more PTs against than you bro. This is in response to:

Yes Steve is undefeated, but I’m not sure he’s really had a real challenger yet as all of his opponents have been riding the bottom half of the league.
